I’m back to my normal self now…. how can I tell?
Well I just spent a good few minutes day-dreaming about the lovely sausages I’m having for tea when I get home
Mmmmmm 😀
I found this list of silly units extremely amusing, mainly because of this one:
The speed of light is 1.80 tera furlongs per fortnight
Well for the first time I have written a post and then saved it as a draft so I can come back to it and improve/edit it before releasing it to the view of you, the gentle reader. Does this mark a new and exciting direction for me and this website? Well probably now, but certainly possibly.
It’s perhaps a bit opinionated and I need to make sure that my opinions are worded correctly and written well as I really don’t like the idea of people getting the wrong end of the stick.
Even thought some inevitably will.
[note]:
It has been drawn to my attention that there are a stupidly large number of typos in this post, rather than edit the post to fix them I’ll just hold my hands up and confess that I didn’t follow my own advice and proof read what I’d written before posting it… that should teach me (watch it not).
As you may have noticed there has been less of the prolific blogging recently, this is related to a lack of enthusiasm which in turn is related to a lack of sleep.
The solution?
Simple, I’m going to get an early night tonight 🙂
I doubt you will have noticed, but I have added to the bottom of the front page a navigation by page control as downloaded from this clever guy, which I’m really pleased with it seems pretty damn cool 🙂
On a different note I’m going to have to go through my css and check for conficting or wasted margin/padding values… I noticed that this could be a problem when trying to get the positioning of the navigation links at the bottom.
Well here’s a little story for you. I was walking home from the train station yesterday and went past the ‘local’ indian takeaway. This is the favorite for our house although I’ve only ordered from it once as we don’t have a menu and so I don’t know what they have (ordered a chicken tikka, can’t go wrong ;)).
Well as I was walking past I noticed that there was a plastic container full of menus on the window sill, even though the place was shut. Fantastic I thought and picked one up… then the audacity of the situation struck me, this was a menu for a different indian takeaway !
I was astonished at the cheek of the act, although also quite amused. I may have even chuckled to myself in the middle of the street, while walking home.
I had a dream last night where I was having a chat with Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy). Which is fair enough but it got me to thinking. The majority of what was said by her was probably direct quotes from the show Buffy the Vampier Slayer, but with one important difference.
There was absolutely no background music or noise… for any musician that uses samples this is the holy grail, so to speak, which lead me to thinking…
A sampler powered by a living human brain! Mwahahahah!!

Alternatively known as a quarter-life crisis.
Yup as hard to believe as it sounds I think I may be going through on of those, or at least getting close to one. Personally I would much rather have a quater-life crisis than a mid-life crisis. You seee the way I see it is a quarter-life crisis is all about trying to work out what you want from life and how to acheive it, whether you’re on the right path and what you need to do to get or stay on the right path.
Which is far better than the mid-life crisis where (as I see it) you are fretting about all the things you missed, where you should be but aren’t and all kinds of negative type thoughts.
So I’m going through a period of intense thought (careful now) trying to work out what I want and how to get it, ranging from careers choices to spiritual practice, so as you can imagine its quite a task and quite a lot of thinking !!!
So anyway, as soon as I know where I’m heading I’ll keep you informed.
Some decisions have been made but I need to act on them now, no point in making plans if there’s going to be no execution !!
…as in doing it, not as in killing someone….
unless thats what you planned…
which I haven’t
Well hows this for a strange coincidence?
I split the style sheet for this site into two, one for possition and one for the colouring and images. Now the reason for doing this, well I’m going to be a bit coy about that as I’m still working on it, but hopefully it should be good 🙂
..but anyway back to my point, what do I read today but an article by a designer that actually knows what he’s doing, saying all about the virtues and stuff of spliting the styles like this. Well I felt chuffed, this is the article if you’re interested, and hopefully you’re all curious and excited about my secret plan (yeah right)
The blogging absence of the last few days was caused by a trip to Cambridge, a house party and a sudden but temporary urge to get away from technology.
I have now returned to my cosy little house in Guildford feeling tired and slightly ill but actually quite good overall.
There are an awful lot of people getting here searching for information about the Ilford receivership, this made me feel slightly guilty so I decided to find out more information.
The financial times has an article about it, but you have to pay to look at it so I’ve got no idea what it says.
BBC news now has a story about it (after me I might add :D) [link].
For those that really can’t be bothered to follow the link, here is a synopsis:
Ilford is 125 years old, it has debts of over £40 million (mentioned in my last ilford post) The major problem seems to be the film making section of the company which is based in Cheshire. There is a Swiss section of the company which will stay as it is due to being in the profitable market of dyes for inkjet printers.
Black and white film sales have fallen by and average of 11% per year for the last three years.
