On a lighter note, some of the more eagle-eyed readers will have noticed that a previous post has gone missing, along with some new pictures in my gallery that the post was extoling. This I assume is due to the fact that my website has changed servers and now resides in the UK.
Probably the MySQL database copied across was an earlier version than the one with the post and pictures in.

No matter, soon I’ll put the pictures up and point at them with another post 🙂

Until then, happy camping!

Yesterday I bought some drugs.

I can imagine that this statement can arouse a whole host of differing reactions from different readers, so let me elaborate. No they are not cough/cold type drugs, no I’m not breaking the law. They are the herbal highs that supposedly mimic the effects of popular illegal drugs. I find it strange and interesting how these kind of drugs are still a bit of a social taboo in most circles. Stand-up citizens would have nothing to do with such distasteful alterations of mental state. But then they wouldn’t think twice about getting a bit tipsy at a dinner party, or kick-starting the day with a strong cup of coffee. These drugs are ‘normal’ socially acceptable methods of altering ones brain chemistry.

-rant off.

To be honest I am sceptical as to the potency or actual effect that these drugs will have, but that simply raises the curiosity stakes in my book. After all they are completely legal for people over the age of 18 so why not give it a go and find out?

I am not however, in any way, assuming that legal means safe. I will be taking these pills with caution, and I hope to share the effects (or lack thereof) here. To me this seems like a fairly sensible course of action as there seems to be little to no first person recounts of these drugs, and the reviews that are available are only on the sellers websites and unsurprisingly give no mention to possible negative experience. I already know from reading a new scientist article on the subject that some of these drugs can cause hangovers and in some cases the actual trip can be unpleasant.

I plan to start this weekend, with the weakest of the selection I’ve purchased. It has a recommended dose of 3-4 pills, I’ll start with one.
Stay tuned to find out the names of these drugs, where I bought them and any other background information I can find as to the possible effects.

And of course my recount of the experience itself.

It has been a while, gentle reader, far too long in fact. So I will update… Now!

I’m going to America! Probably. It’s a definite maybe. For work, next week. To Arizona. I’m looking forward to it, although it was a bit of a surprise when I found out on Wednesday.

A birthday has been and gone, I’m now 26. Not sure if that has any relevance at all, other than the slight sinking feeling of being closer to 30 than 20.

Photographic stuff is getting interesting, I have a flash waiting for me at my parents place, I’ve agreed to do a wedding (FEAR!) and I’ll be doing some shots for the-housemates-that-are-in-a-band. I can almost imagine this accelerating to an exciting level, fingers crossed!

I’m now on MySpace! I won’t link as I’m keep this site as a separate thing for the moment. Still not too sure about it but it certainly is something to fill in the rare bored moments in life (they really don’t happen very often but that’s a good thing!).

Work is great, loving it.

That is all.

Although I had nothing to do with the project [pdf] I do know how much effort went into it and how hard it is to do something like this .

Makes me feel quite proud of my company 🙂

And we just got an email round of a clip from the discovery channel, one of our projects was on ‘future weapons’ (don’t think I can link it though).

So, if you’re interested in the kind of work I could get up to, there it is. It’s nice to be able to share something as most of the projects that go on here are a bit less public in nature.

If you don’t already know, there is a video on youTube of the new team fortress game (that seems to have been in the works for ages).

Looks amazing, I wonder if it’ll pull me away from World of warcraft….

which means I’ve been up for about two.

And I’ve only just noticed that I’ve got my t-shirt on backwards. I hope it’s not a bad sign.

Someone arrived at my site by searching for ‘buy ketamine’ hilariously this is the snippet from my site that yahoo presented:

… Barbiturates. Street Methadone. Alcohol. Ketamine. Benzodiazepines. Amphetamine. Tobacco. Buprenorphine … In the weekend just gone I left the house only once, to buy junk food …

What the hell kind of life do I have? Nothing as hedonistic as that makes it sound!

Then an article about The rapidly increasing loss of ice in greenland sure should make you think twice.

In a nutshell, for those who can’t be bothered, measurements show that the glaciers on greenland and the north pole are melting much quicker than first expected. Adding 0.56mm to the global sea level every year. While that doesn’t sound like much it will have an effect on the Norwegian Current and could effect weather in western europe, that’s us people.

It also suggests that the ice cap will be gone within a century.

Lets find out as I recount the dream I had last night.
Firstly it started with me going on a trip in a car with Greig and Kat. Nothing unusual there, in fact I’m going to see them (and Andy and possibly Mike) today, and for the rest of the weekend.
We arrive at some kind of outdoor national trust-esq car park, you know with grass and gravel with wooden divider fences rather than tarmac and metal safety barriers. Once there we make our way to the airport, things get a bit hazy but basically I end up looking after the baby while Greig goes and looks for Kat, seems she went off somewhere – this detail is also hazy.
