I didn’t bother watching anatomy for beginners last night. Even though this show is the talk of the town right now, I really couldn’t be bothered. It is actually very interesting, in a sightly gruesome oh-my-god-I-can’t-stop-watching kind of way. The problem I have with it is that it’s on very late ( starts at 11) and there seems to be nothing in the show that I don’t already know.
I’m not quite sure how I already know it, maybe GCSE biology went in a bit better than I thought.
Anyway, I decided to get an early night, got a bit paranoid after watching ’10 years younger’. Apparently lack of sleep gives bags under the eyes, which if they get too bad will stay, and then you’ll look older and blah blah blah.
Kerplunk.
I watched that ‘ten years younger’ programme and i was not very impressed with yesterdays episode….their job was to make this ropey looking 37 yr old guy look ten years younger than people think he is….after the cosmetic SURGERY!!! where they fiddled around with his eye and cut bits off etc….and over 30 botox injections….he had no choice but to look youger because he could not move his face!….i realised afterwards that it is easy to look ten years younger if you can have surgery, cosmetic procedures and dentistry work done….for free! …..and like you Rob, i did get slightly paranoid about baggy eyes….but i dont think we have much to worry about….just yet….
ooohhhh and i tried watching the first episode of the ‘anatomy for beginners’ programme…but after watching him remove all the skin from a dead corpse and pluck/play the guys ligaments and striny bits like a guitar….i turned it off….and i thought i was good when it came to squemish things…i guess i was wrong…..
And you thought I had a problem with the squeemish things 😛
Also one thing is definately for sure, you don’t have to worry about eye bags!
Last nights "Anatomy Episode" was intriguing.
Granted, i didn’t find it easy watching the muscular system one, but the digestive system was fascinating, and not particularly squeemish.
Kinda crude though that when they unravelled the lower intestines, they had to shower it down gently to remove the cadaver’s poo… I mean, couldn’t they have attemped an "emptying" beforehand?
Still, agreed with Rob in that you kinda know most of what they say, but you don’t know what they show (unless you happen to be trained in anatomical medicine). So maybe it makes me some kind of freak (like, more than what people already think) when i say that i was truly fascinated to see what the muscular structure and internal organs all look like. It’s kinda like listening to the radio… you know what the presenter’s like and how they sound, but you like to know what they look like to complete the picture, right?
RIGHT?!
Glad you all agree.
On a more disturbing note, I REALLY don’t see how necrophiles get their kicks!
I don’t feel it was about learning anatomy but by seeing it all in a real life situation and putting it in perspective
I’m with Pete, I found it fascinating… I would post more, but meh, I’m lazy
Well I stuck by my post and didn’t bother watching any more of the Anatomy programs.
And you know what?
I don’t regret it at all 🙂
