We’ve all heard the saying ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’ which of course is all very nice, it even rhymes. But with all the fun a capers of rhyming saying, do we actually know how good apples are for us?
I’m my quest for randomness this question cropped up so I’ve done some research. The short answer is that they are supprisingly very good for you, much like bananas, but thats a different story.
Here are some little know facts about the health benifits of apples:

Its strange, I can look at a website (and I look at a fair few), and I can see when a design is good or when its bad, if I take a bit of time I can usually also decide if the layout flows nicely or the colours go together.
But for some reason I don’t seem to be able to ‘do’ these things, admittedly I’ve not put a huge amount of effort into the design of this site. Quite probably for the simple reason that if I did it wouldn’t look all that much better.
I’d like to think that these things get better with practice, and perhaps they do. Until that time though, I think I will just stick with stealing ideas from other people (without shame) and using my trusty colour wheel program to help pick colours that actually go with each other.
Which reminds me I need to take a screenshot of this design, so hopefully in two years time I can look back and say ‘geez was a really that poor at designing back then?’
I can hope 🙂
Although it is a LOT better than some sites out there 🙂
I mentioned, not so long ago that I was having a big think about my life direction and that I’d made some decisions. Well I was a bit secretive about it simply because I was blogging during my lunch break at work, and I felt it would be a bit rude to write about wanting to find a new job.
Which is what I’m hoping to do, and if things work in my favour it will be much closer to home so that I don’t have to commute.
I’ve been meaning to blog about this from home earlier but I felt that actions speak louder than words, and unfortunately up until this evening my words have been saying ‘start look for a new job’ but my actions have been saying ‘watch TV’.
I had a good plan of attack, get my CV upto date by this weekend and then take it down to a recruitment agency on saturday. Unfortunately I don’t have a printer.
I thought of using the printer at work. I will have to let my boss know about the plan at some point, its only polite. Plus he’ll be one of my references. 🙂
Also it seems that my CV may need more work than I first thought, if I want it to be as impressive as possible. Without lying of course, I’ve never lied trying for a job and I don’t intend to start now!
Will keep the whole situation posted 😉
Today I decided to monitor the amount of water that I get through while at work. The reason for this randomness was a conversation with my cousins over dinner last week. They informed me that if you drink too much water you can stretch your kidneys! I don’t really know what that means but it sounds pretty painful, and also apparently it will mean you can’t drink alcohol or coffee or any other foodstuffs that make your kidneys go through a bit of effort.
So I’m currently up to my sixth glass, each glass being roughly half a pint makes three pints of water (so far) at work… considering its advised to have eight glasses a day, I think I’ll be ok 🙂
I’m back to my normal self now…. how can I tell?
Well I just spent a good few minutes day-dreaming about the lovely sausages I’m having for tea when I get home
Mmmmmm 😀
I found this list of silly units extremely amusing, mainly because of this one:
The speed of light is 1.80 tera furlongs per fortnight
Well for the first time I have written a post and then saved it as a draft so I can come back to it and improve/edit it before releasing it to the view of you, the gentle reader. Does this mark a new and exciting direction for me and this website? Well probably now, but certainly possibly.
It’s perhaps a bit opinionated and I need to make sure that my opinions are worded correctly and written well as I really don’t like the idea of people getting the wrong end of the stick.
Even thought some inevitably will.
[note]:
It has been drawn to my attention that there are a stupidly large number of typos in this post, rather than edit the post to fix them I’ll just hold my hands up and confess that I didn’t follow my own advice and proof read what I’d written before posting it… that should teach me (watch it not).
As you may have noticed there has been less of the prolific blogging recently, this is related to a lack of enthusiasm which in turn is related to a lack of sleep.
The solution?
Simple, I’m going to get an early night tonight 🙂
I doubt you will have noticed, but I have added to the bottom of the front page a navigation by page control as downloaded from this clever guy, which I’m really pleased with it seems pretty damn cool 🙂
On a different note I’m going to have to go through my css and check for conficting or wasted margin/padding values… I noticed that this could be a problem when trying to get the positioning of the navigation links at the bottom.
Well here’s a little story for you. I was walking home from the train station yesterday and went past the ‘local’ indian takeaway. This is the favorite for our house although I’ve only ordered from it once as we don’t have a menu and so I don’t know what they have (ordered a chicken tikka, can’t go wrong ;)).
Well as I was walking past I noticed that there was a plastic container full of menus on the window sill, even though the place was shut. Fantastic I thought and picked one up… then the audacity of the situation struck me, this was a menu for a different indian takeaway !
I was astonished at the cheek of the act, although also quite amused. I may have even chuckled to myself in the middle of the street, while walking home.
