Archives for category: Website

It’s a post format apparently. So:

Twerk: The rhythmic gyrating of the lower fleshy extremities in a lascivious manner with the intent to elicit sexual arousal or laughter in ones intended audience.

On a lighter note, some of the more eagle-eyed readers will have noticed that a previous post has gone missing, along with some new pictures in my gallery that the post was extoling. This I assume is due to the fact that my website has changed servers and now resides in the UK.
Probably the MySQL database copied across was an earlier version than the one with the post and pictures in.

No matter, soon I’ll put the pictures up and point at them with another post :)

Until then, happy camping!

Someone arrived at my site by searching for ‘buy ketamine’ hilariously this is the snippet from my site that yahoo presented:

… Barbiturates. Street Methadone. Alcohol. Ketamine. Benzodiazepines. Amphetamine. Tobacco. Buprenorphine … In the weekend just gone I left the house only once, to buy junk food …

What the hell kind of life do I have? Nothing as hedonistic as that makes it sound!

So, lack of posts recently. I’ve been wondering why I’ve got this website.

It all started out with ‘wow the randomtask.co.uk domain is free, how cool’ closely followed by ‘can I do it?’

After proving that I could do it, to an extent, blogging occured for the joy of it. Then it became a way of keeping in contact with my friends (still an important raison d’etre for the site).

Then came the photos, and now the quandry. I like putting my photos on the interweb, and I’d like it if I knew that people enjoyed them. The main problem is that in it’s current state, the photos on this website are too hard to find for the average surfer (opinions are made with 1 second of visiting a site, or something like that). So that naturally leads to the need to design the site.

This is where the problem lies. Not having any natural skill with visual design, and the fact that it would take me a lot of learning to implement any design that I may or may not have, has led quite naturally to procrastination.
Unfortunately this procrastination has extended beyond design and into any kind of web activity. Much to the disapointment of my regular readers (I’m sure).

Plus my curiosity has wandered off into some funky direct 3D code visualisation tool that will take me a long, long time to write.

I was reading over some of my first posts today, and I realised that the ‘random’ nature that I aimed for has been lost over the ages (nearly two years now!).
SO, an increase in shorter more random and meaningless posts is the hope :-
Is it a bird, is it a plane? No it’s a squirrel, you need your eyes tested….
Things like that.

I also noticed that my current theme shortens old posts for no apparent reason (why would I want that?) so I may have a bit more enthusiam towards the re-design (or design as it should be called). That enthusiam may lead to actual progress, of which there has been none so far.

In an admin miss-hap I seem to have accidently deleted the post ‘Somthings… missing’

Trying to recover it at the mo, if I fail then I’ll re-write it and add all the comments back manaully…. stay tuned.

[UPDATE]: As if by magic it’s all restored…. aren’t I clever :)

Slow.

It’s been a while since I posted anything, been busy (usual excuse!).
I’ve decided that I really, really should try and get my ass in gear and actually apply some kind of design to this site. To this end I’ve added the ‘Themes’ to the menu bar. This way you, the happy reader can see how far I have or haven’t got on the site redesign.

At the moment the ‘Development’ theme is the same as the original classic wordpress theme. You can expect it to be like this for some time. Still, I’m hoping the fact that anyone can see how little progress I’ve made and generally poke me, will give me some much needed incentive!

Note: Be aware that looking at a different theme using the switcher sets a cookie on your machine, it will continue to show you that theme until you select a different theme.

I am very aware that the only people that seem to know about and use my wiki are spammers. So I’ve made a few changes which means you have to have a user name in order to edit the pages. Although I intend to leave it that anyone can create a username, I’m hoping that this will stop the spammers.

I’m also very aware of the fact that the site is well overdue for a redesign, seeing as it still has the default skin that comes with wordpress. I make no promises on timescale with this, as my design skills are close to non-existant and I don’t have much time to put aside for the task.

I would estimate that you will see a new design of some type, within the next year.

But no promises.

Well it’s been quite a while since my last post!!

Some reasons that may or may not sate your desire for explinations:

My main computer is currently monitor-less as the monitor I have is all packed up ready to be exchanged under warrenty. It’s been in that state for over a week now which is really rather frustrating. Viewsonic have promised that it’ll arrive either today or tomorrow, but I must admit I’m slightly sceptical.

Changing broadband providers has not been quite as smooth as I’d hoped. The switch over happened on wednesday and I still haven’t got my new connection working. With a little luck I’ll be able to fix it this evening, now that I have apparenly vital IP addresses to enter into my router.

Lazy.

Busy.

Spent an enjoyable weekend in Loughborough.

Lazy.

That about sums it up!

It’s been a damn long time coming, but I’ve finally uploaded some more pictures to my gallery. A grand total of six from the Guildford town cycle race. The best ones I think, and one more from my skiing holiday.
As always the link on the right will take you there. Enjoy!!

If you’ve got any comments about the pictures, pop them in this post ‘cos the gallery only allows users to add comments, which is damn annoying.
